Founder’s Recommendation — Focal Sopra No.2
If I had to distill years of listening, testing, and obsessing over high-end loudspeakers into one recommendation for the discerning audiophile, the Focal Sopra No.2 would easily make the shortlist—if not top it entirely.
This speaker is an absolute masterclass in engineering precision and emotional engagement. Focal has pulled no punches here. The Sopra 2 strikes a rare and exquisite balance between transparency and musicality. Its Beryllium inverted dome tweeter—paired with the innovative Infinite Horn Loading system—delivers highs that are airy, extended, and astonishingly detailed, yet never fatiguing. You hear everything—from the faintest reverb trail in a live jazz recording to the raw edge of a distorted guitar riff—without the sound ever becoming clinical.
Midrange? Simply world-class. The "W" composite sandwich cones ensure that vocals and acoustic instruments have a presence and warmth that pull you into the music. And then there’s the bass: tight, textured, and authoritative, thanks to the well-integrated dual woofers and rigid cabinet design. Whether you're spinning vinyl, streaming high-res, or running a dedicated two-channel system, the Sopra No.2 reveals layers you didn’t know existed in your favorite albums.
It’s not just a speaker—it’s a reference point. And while it’s certainly an investment, it's one that pays sonic dividends every time you sit down for a serious listen. As the founder of HIFILORD, I don’t make recommendations lightly.
The Focal Sopra No.2 has earned its place in my personal listening room—and if you're building or upgrading a serious audiophile setup, I can't recommend it highly enough.
A concentrate of unrivalled technologies
Equipped with the best midrange ever developed by Focal, with NIC and TMD technologies, Sopra N°2 pushes back the limits of reproduction in terms of sound transparency in a loudspeaker with very contained volume.
Excellence in detail
The deliberately visible decoupling tips were designed for Sopra and manufactured by watchmaking specialists. The Beryllium tweeter is protected by a grille with a lattice pattern. The same pattern is repeated on the back plate of the midrange.
The finest materials
Cabinets made in France by Focal cabinetmakers, vibration-eliminating tempered glass, lacquered or wood finishes: the material sublimates the sound. Sopra N°2 underlines the uniqueness of every living space.
